Halloween in politics

I am prepared for Halloween. No, I am not wearing a costume myself, but I have lots of sweets in my cupboard for the little monsters and ghosts that will soon start ringing at my door and ask me: “Süßes oder Saures?” (Trick or treat?).
I do not mind that. What I do not like [...]

Halloween at Frankenstein

I did not know that Burg Frankenstein which I can actually see from my house was that famous! The Canadian Press reports today:
Thousands flock to German keep that may have inspired Shelley’s Frankenstein
MUEHLTAL, Germany — Boris Karloff never walked these grounds, but the history of Burg Frankenstein may have inspired Mary Shelley’s famous monster.
It has [...]

Green dating

Green dating. Until yesterday I did not even know that this existed. But as I read in WELT am Sonntag (“Naturliebhaber gesucht“ von Thomas Ramge, 28. Oktober 2008) there are indeed lots of websites about green, or ethically correct dating ;-) like planetearthsingles who say about themselves:
A green-friendly dating site. We cater to environmentalists, animal [...]

A “lot of hot air”- PhD

One of the funniest emails I ever got was the one telling me, my blog was “a lot of hot air” - signed PhD. No name, no initials, just PhD. Isn`t that hilarious! I was ROTFL when I read that. As if holding a PhD guaranteed eternal wisdom. I am not holding a PhD, unless [...]

Global Warming, please!

This week temperatures dropped down to zero at night! And we are still in September, in summer! But instead of sun-bathing in my garden, I had to switch on the heating in my house, my car, at work. I had to look for my winter clothes, gloves, scarves, …
OK, I admit my co-workers usually make [...]

Line Dance All Summer Long

I learnt how to Line Dance tonight and it was great fun. And which music did we dance it to? Kid Rock “All Summer long”, my all-time-favourite summer song!
BTW, only four out of 40 participants were male and none of them danced like this guy:

But that`s OK, after all we are just beginning …
For [...]

Beck ist weg - Beck steps back

This week Kurt Beck resigned as SPD head and as the party`s potential candidate for chancellor. On the one hand that is good news indeed because Kurt Beck backed a red-red-green coalition in Hesse. On the other hand that is bad news because he would have been no competition for Angela Merkel at all. With [...]

Dennis Prager meeting in Frankfurt

Last Saturday I went to my first Dennis Prager Germany listeners meeting in Frankfurt. More on this and a picture of us on the „Dennis Prager Radioshow Listeners Germany” website.

On a day like today – September 11, 2008

This is what I wrote two years ago and I think it is still true today:
On a day like today I wonder: When will we finally stop blaming ourselves or even worse blaming the victims? The Towers were too high and maybe our jeans too tight and skirts too short. Our life-style too Western, Coca [...]

ZDF: Objective, anti-American or doped?

In reports last week ZDF created doping conspiracy theories about American Olympians. The athletes were not directly accused of doping, but weird questions were being asked.
The summary of the report called “Zum Ziel hin schneller: Gedopt?” (“Strong finish: Doped?”) reads like this:
Die US-Schwimmer bei Olympia begeistern durch ihre sportlichen Leistungen. Auch Leichtathleten werden [...]
