Obama said he came to Berlin as a citizen:
“I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before. Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen - a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world.”
I thought that was really funny because obviously an ordinary citizen would never have been allowed to speak at the Victory Column.
The speech of course did not remain that modest:
“People of Berlin - people of the world - this is our moment. This is our time.”
Mmh.
The whole speech was immedately available on CNN: Full script of Obama`s speech
CNN reporters said that there were a lot of Americans, but also Germans. I thought that was very funny, too. If even CNN reporters admit that, then there must have been mainly Americans. What do you think?
