Getting ready for Euro 2008

I am getting ready for the Euro 2008. I am glad to have kept all my fan articles from World Cup 2006: T-Shirts, Caps, Flags, … and I got a new one: It is a small fan (black, red and gold) and when you switch it on, you do not only get cold air, but a writing appears. Guess what it says? “We are the Champions” ;-)

As the Euro takes place in Austria and Switzerland even we Germans have to take a quick language course. So I was delighted to find the Henkel-Fanguide website where you can listen to suitable expressions in Viennese, German and English.
I am not sure though whether I would recommend the flirting in Vienna tips ;-) After the first beers maybe …

Here is more (German – Austrian – Swiss – English):

Ellenbogencheck – Reiberl geben - Elleboge usfahre – Elbow check (?)
Platzverweis – Ausschluss – ab under Tuschi! – sending-off
Trillerpfeife – Pfeiferl – Pfiffä - whistle

And as usual BILD (June 1, 2008) answers all the essential questions regarding the Euro, like:

What is the ideal temperature for your beer? 8 degrees.

How long is the grass supposed to be? Between 20 and 32 mm.

And one question I am sure nobody in the US would ever ask: Am I allowed to sing the nation anthem before kick off?
And believe it or not, the answer is: YES!
