Gesine Schwan, a politics professor, has been nominated by the Social Democrats to stand against conservative President Horst Köhler. In a press-conference on Monday she said:
“I see a realistic chance of being elected and I want to appeal for votes from all parties, including the Left Party.”
Including the Left Party! She also stated:
“I want to help restore public faith in the political process by explaining it to people.”
I am really looking forward to her explanations and I already have a question to start with: How could someone who is reaching out for Left Party votes be able to restore public faith in the political process?
