I see “red”. The Left has won 6,5 % of the votes in Hamburg. This is the third West-German parliament they have entered this year. And FDP is struggling at 5 %.
Update Feb 25, 2008: The Free Democrats didn’t manage to jump the 5 percent hurdle in Hamburg. That is really bad news. But there is worse:
Last week already, SPD party head Kurt Beck came out in favor of at least an informal alliance with the Left Party in Hesse. Consequently BILD-Zeitung titled yesterday: “Beck muss weg!” (= Beck has to go!). But today his party backed his idea. “Beck is back” I am afraid. That means that my state Hesse might soon be governed by a deep red-red-green coalition.
And do you know what my fortune cookie said today? “You will be very lucky in personal matters.” - I guess you just can`t have it all ;-)
