I have been asking myself this question again and again and again. The usual excuses, I do not believe in anyway, do not fit:
Lack of integration? - He was German!
Lack of perspective? - He was studying industrial engineering.
Bad home? – His father was an engineer, his mother a doctor.
But today I found the solution:
It`s the name, stupid!
Fritz!
How can anyone being called Fritz ever lead a normal life? This name is a punishment, a life-sentence. No wonder Fritz preferred being called Abdullah. How could his parents possibly call him Fritz?
The most popular names in Germany today being:
Leon, Lukas, Jonas, Finn, Luis, Max, Tim, Julian and Felix. Would it have been asking too much choosing one of these?
