Appeasement and Global Cooling

Last night was a sleepless night. And it is not world politics that kept me awake. No, it is martens on, or more precisely somewhere in the roof of my house. And I do not exactly know what they are doing up there, but they are making a lot of noise.

It all started years ago. Then they used to come in when it was either extremely cold or pouring with rain to find shelter. Not that I like being woken up in the middle of the night, but I have got a heart for animals, too. So I tolerated this. Hoping it would pass.
But it became worse this year. They came in almost every night. And they did not only wake me up for a few seconds when entering the roof, but they kept on moving and spitting and …

Last night they kept me awake from 2:30 until the early morning hours. At around 3:30 I went up in the attic - and I can imagine nicer things to do at that time - and I succeeded in making them leave by knocking at the roof with a broom, but shortly after they came back again. This will be a long fight. No fast victory. If I had not tolerated them in the beginning, things would be easier now.
My appeasement policy has clearly failed. Pulling your cover over the head is simply no strategy.

The average European in such a case would probably try to put the blame on the US.
Let us see whether I can play the blame game, too:

Why do these martens want to spend the night in my roof? Because of the weather. It is a very cold and rainy summer.
Who is to blame for this phenomenon of global cooling? Not President Bush because he is already made responsible for global warming. But how about Al Gore? After all, he has promised us global warming.
Dear Mr. Al Gore: Where is it? Apart from a few really hot and sunny days we had no summer at all here in Germany. That is an inconvenient truth.
Carbon offsets allow climate sinners to get rid of their guilt. New offset-ideas are spreading. Cheatneutral e. g. offers infidelity offsets, maybe you can find a website offering false promises offsets?
