George Clooney is on the cover of today`s Vanity Fair Germany. The subtitle is: “My house. My women. My life.” Not that I am particularly interested in that, but I was curious to know why he is also seen as “The Good American”. After having read the piece, I now know why: Because he is against Bush. Because he is against the war in Iraq. Because he wants to help Darfur. Now, I appreciate he supports saving Darfur. But maybe this could conflict with his first two points of view. Because President Bush is one of the very few Western politicians who calls the genocide in Darfur a genocide. The Europeans are reluctant to do so. Also, saving Darfur would mean sending troops to Sudan. Even if it was called “peace mission”, it would still be a war. And then I do not see much of a difference to the war in Iraq, a war Clooney opposes. So maybe “The Good American” will have to think over it again …
